Who we are

I created the Latino Scholars Network because I know what it’s like to grow up feeling like you have to prove yourself to belong. As a Latino student, I often felt the weight of low expectations. It seemed like I had to work twice as hard just to be seen, and even then, I rarely saw people who looked like me in honors classes, college brochures, or successful careers.

Latino students are too often pushed into boxes and told what they can or can’t do based on stereotypes instead of their true potential. We are underrepresented in advanced programs, higher education, and professional fields. That lack of visibility can make it difficult to imagine a future that feels possible.

Latino Scholars Network was born out of the need to change that narrative.

My goal is to uplift and empower Latino students by sharing real stories, providing access to educational and career resources, and connecting students with successful examples that reflect their identities. This platform is here to remind you that your background is not a barrier but a source of strength. And even if you don’t fully believe in yourself, we believe in you.

Founded by a high school junior, the Latino Scholars Network proves that you don’t have to wait to make an impact—you must start.

With pride and purpose,

Natalie Peña
